Ivana Ognjanovic’s practice primarily focuses on environmental litigation. She specializes in supporting litigation of complex multi-party environmental cases, including federal CERCLA cost-recovery actions and other litigation related to Superfund sites and state common law causes of action. Ivana focusses on legal and factual research related to facilities and sites with complex and lengthy historical operations and liability issues involving numerous parties, complex transactions and intricate successor liability issues involving multimillion dollar claims.

Ivana also has an extensive litigation background and has litigation and trial experience related to complex multistate and international litigation matters.

Environmental Litigation

Ivana supports environmental litigation and counseling in matters ranging from common law causes of action relating to environmental contamination of property to violations and compliance with federal, state, and common environmental laws. Ivana is particularly skilled in researching and analyzing complicated and complex historical legal and factual issues, implementation and evaluation of discovery and evidence, document review and management of databases. Examples include:

  • Factual research and evaluation of evidence in support of client’s defense to multi-party claims for environmental contamination against client’s subsidiary resulting from an alleged historical use of volatile organic compounds.
  • Legal and factual research and evaluation of evidence in support of client’s defense as the former lessee of multiple industrial properties occupied at various times from the 1950s to 1990s in cost recovery action brought by property owner under California’s Hazardous Substances Account Act and common law causes of action.
  • Factual support of client’s defense as the alleged successor to liability related to company’s use of chemicals in the early 1900s in CERCLA cost-recovery and contribution action brought against dozens of companies relating to contamination of an urban river.
